Former Prime Minister, i.e., Brian Mulroney, states to all the Canadians, “we require more immigrants- much more.”
Most Canadians still remember Mulroney was mainly for tripling the immigration; he also stated he wants Canada’s population to reach 100 million latest by 2021. In the previous week, he also gave his message at the forum organized by Globe and Mail and Century Initiative, a decisive strategy for Canada’s future welfare.
Former Prime minister Brian Mulroney put their ideas, which was already in Century Initiative’s plan, to increase Canada’s population growth speed. Since Canada’s birth rate isn’t sufficient to accelerate the population on its own. Without the help of the immigration program, it is not possible to increase Canada’s population rate.
To get ahead of these economic challenges, Canada has started organizing immigration programs’ levels at a higher rate. From 2019, immigration was subjected to more than 80 percent of Canada’s population growth. In the current year, Canada is looking forward to welcoming more than 1.2 million immigrants between 2021 and 2023. Moreover, Century Initiative stated that we want more immigrants.
The century initiative report said that “the business old approach to population expansion will not make economically vibrant, socially generous future that Canadians needs and expect.
Why 100 million?
Century initiate shows the clear picture of the world in 2021. The world population has expanded to 11.2 million, contributed by Africa and Asia. The U.S. is one of the fastest-growing countries, with the estimated population of more than 450 million.
In this predicted future, the Canadian Population is 49.7 million, which means the 48 most populated countries worldwide, less than ten spots from what it is now at 38. Its fertility rate is nowhere standing close to the replacement level of 2.1 babies per woman, and when talking of its immigration rate, it has also not changed. Canada has less population, and also its economic growth has fallen to half of what it was in the past 50 years.
In case Canada population reached to the 100 million. It will be owned as the 27th most populated country worldwide, and also it put a positive to its economy with the growth rate of 2.6 percent annual GDP growth.
Canada has a less population which means that there will be a larger labor pool and taxpayer base. If there is a larger taxpayer base, it will transfer more tax-paying money to the social programs and infrastructure.

Century initiate all projected that the more populated country will call for more environmentally friendly access -housing and infrastructure. The cultural area will be much vibrant and prosperous. Hence, with the population of 100 million, Canada will enable the country to be the stronger global influence.
500,000 new immigrants in 2026
Century initiative stated that the goal of achieving 100 million Canadian is neither impossible nor radical. Immigration goals required a total of 1 percent of the population. By the end of the 2026 Century initiative, Canada prioritized its immigration target to 1.25 percent of the population, inviting 5, 00,000 immigrants in 2026.
Canada has all the plans to welcome more than 4,01,000 new immigrants in 2021 and 2023, up to 421000. Moreover, the century initiative predicts 4,50,000 in 2024 and 475000 in 2025.
The other step is white paper, as stated by Mulroney
The previous week, Mulroney started a new national policy that led to triple Canada’s population by the end of the century, the Globe reported. Mulroney recommended starting the momentum with the float the ideas into the critical political meeting.
