Newfoundland and Labrador will begin to accept applications for a new program from January 2.
The Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador is an advanced immigration program, especially for highly educated, highly skilled newcomers with specialization in the areas where demand has dominated local training and recruitment, including technology and ocean sciences occupations.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) will start to post more information on the government website when the stream opens.
The main objective of the draw is to help address local labor market shortages. It will be eligible mainly for the newcomers who must have a minimum of over one year of work experience in the highly skilled, high-demand occupations and post-graduates who have completed a Masters or Doctorate at Memorial University within three years.
In the release, immigration province minister Gerry Byrne said, “Newfoundland and Labrador devoted a good amount of time, efforts, and money to attract more newcomers to our shores.” The moment we invite newcomers, we devote even most of our time to our own Memorial University for education and training. Directed by our premier leadership, our government has now started to save most of its time in assisting highly skilled, highly educated newcomers to reside here and begin to accomplish their goals and settle with their families through Newfoundland Labrador.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) target is to invite more than 2,500 new permanent residents annually by the end of the year 2022 with coronavirus’s particular guidelines.
How the New Program Works
The Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador will conduct as an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Attracted applicants will require completing their EOI, and then they will be eligible to receive an invitation to apply through the province’s online portal.
Invited candidates must receive a provincial nomination if they fulfill all the eligibility criteria for the skilled worker or Express Entry Skilled Worker categories. This provincial nomination will support a subsequent application for Canadian permanent residence to the federal government.
At present, Newfoundland and Labrador are receiving EOIs from those individuals who have a minimum of over one year of professional work experience in an in-demand occupation. Moreover, they are also accepting the application from those people who have finished their Ph.D or master’s degree from the Memorial University within the period of three years in any of the following four specialties: Technology, Health Care, Aquaculture, and Agriculture.
Candidates will require filling out the questionnaire to acquire an EOI score. Those individuals who receive more than 60 points will be apparent to the local employers with the accounts with the province’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism.
It is not mandatory to have a job offer to apply for the province’s new Provincial Nominee Program. Candidates require scoring high in the EOI system and should have accepted interest from local employers.
Here are some of the eligibility requirements that all the applicants should follow.
Applicants must require a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) with a minimum of five with regard to getting qualified. Also, the results of the language test must be lower than 12 months old.
Applicants require being a minimum of 21 years of age and intend to reside permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador.
